Stow is a small, affluent town located in west-central Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Stow only covers a total of 18.1 square miles and, according to recent census estimates, has a population of 6,327 residents. Because Stow is located just 23 miles northwest of Boston, it is a popular bedroom community for professionals who work in Boston.

Since Stow is a small town with few residents, it has a very real sense of community and is ideal for families with children. There are several great public schools in stow. Whereas the average school in the US spends $6,058 per pupil, public schools in Stow spend an average of $7,859 per student. There are also several wonderful private schools in Stow. Compared to the rest of the nation, violent and property crime rates are low in Stow, which means that parents can still let their children play in the street with other neighborhood children without worrying for their safety.

Stowe is perhaps most renowned for the number of golf courses located within the town´s borders. In all, there are four golf courses in Stow with a total of 81 holes.  Public golf courses in Stow have often been ranked among the best public courses in Massachusetts. There are three public golf courses, Butternut Farm Golf Course (18 holes), Stow Acres Country Club (36 holes) and Stowaway Golf Club (9 holes). The Wedgewood Pines Country Club is an 18-hole private course that was the site of the 1995 US Amateur Public Links Championship. Thanks to the abundance of great golf courses, Stow is a favorite destination with golfers throughout Middlesex County.

Thanks to Stow´s proximity to Boston, which is the social and cultural hub of Middlesex County, town residents have convenient access to all of the amenities, entertainment venues and dining options only available in more metropolitan cities. At the same time, Stow is ideally situated far enough from major population centers to offer residents the tranquility of a peaceful and quiet town.

Stow is a historic town and that is apparent in many of the older homes and buildings. Architectural styles range from Colonial and Craftsman to Traditional and Contemporary.
