Search Acton homes and find an active little town about 21 miles west of Boston. It’s also very close to Concord. While the commuting is pretty quick and easy, there are also many business and employment opportunities in town and in the neighboring areas. The Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce supports local business with networking opportunities, events like Taste of Middlesex, business workshops, and lectures. Acton has several commercial areas with grocery shopping, dining, home goods, and clothing. Some are major chain stores and others are smaller businesses.
You can find Acton real estate in many different types, sizes, and price points. There are cozy condos, many newly built, in buildings with community amenities like a swimming pool, tennis courts, and paths for biking and jogging. You’ll find townhouses and detached single-family houses, too. Find classic Colonial architecture, as well as new construction. New construction homes are fully upgraded, as are most of the older Acton homes, too, with hardwood floors, energy efficient windows, and stone countertops. Detached houses have large backyards, and no residence is far from a park or conservation area.
In fact, Acton has over 1,600 acres of public conservation land. Birdwatching is a favorite activity in the wetlands and forests. Many miles of walking trails wind through town, including the historic Trail Through Time. There are also lots of parks with playgrounds and sports facilities.
Families considering Acton will be pleased with the local public schools. In 2009 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School was named a Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education. It’s also known as an excellent school for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Many of the other public schools in town are also highly rated and provide a strong academic foundation for students.

The Acton Public School System serves approximately 5363 students. It merged with the Town of Boxborough in September 2014 however The High School had already been combined for years prior.
