When you search Southborough homes, you’ll find one of the finest communities in Massachusetts. In 2009, Money Magazine named Southborough as number 31 on its “Top 100 Places to Live”. Once you’ve visited Southborough, you’ll understand why. The town is mostly residential and has lots of open preserve natural space. Southborough real estate is a mix of older construction in a colonial style and more modern construction, which maintains the charm of the traditional colonial without sacrificing convenience. Many home have been designed by architects, so they have excellent internal flow and continuity with the town’s rich architectural tradition. Most houses include quite a bit of land around them, giving a sense of both privacy and serenity. The extra space, both inside and out, mean that these houses are wonderful for entertaining. There’s also room for hobbies, a home gym, home office, or theatre.
Southborough homes also many other advantages, too. The town is less than 30 miles west of Boston. The city is easily reached via the Massachusetts Turnpike or on the Framingham/Worcester Line on the MBTA Commuter Rail.
The public schools in the town are also excellent. Students attend pre-kindergarten through eighth grade at one of the top-rated schools in Southborough, then attend Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough. The high school focuses on preparing students for higher education and professional jobs. Those interested in working a trade attend Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough. Both high schools are very highly rated, both for academics and by parents and students. Parents can also choose one of the highly respected private schools.
Southborough is a great place for anyone who loves the outdoors. The Sudbury Reservoir covers about 10% of the town and offers hiking, cross-country skiing, and seasonal fishing. The town also has a great system of parks, with plenty of space for local sports leagues, including tennis and baseball. There are several indoor gyms, to help residents stay fit year-round, as well as outdoor playgrounds and golf courses.
