Concord, Massachusetts is perfectly described as a home to history. Concord is known for being the location of the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The area was originally known as “Musketaquid”, an Algonquian word for “grassy plain” to reflect the area’s low-lying marshes. Native Americans cultivated corn crops there and the rivers were rich with fish.
Today, Concord is considered a part of one of the fastest growing counties in Massachusetts, Middlesex County.Today, Concord homes are desired by those who commute into Boston. The city is only around 20 miles east of Concord and is easily reached MA-2 and I-93 or the Massachusetts Turnpike. There is also service to Boston via the commuter rail.
There are many jobs available in the town itself. Emerson Hospital employs many residents. Concord Meadows Corporate Center has a number of businesses as tenants. The Concord Chamber of Commerce works hard to support local business owners with networking events and workshops. Still, the town has a quaint downtown filled with shops and restaurants, making for the perfect get-away.

There are newer townhouses with plenty of upgrades, as well as single-family houses built in historic Colonial and Cape Cod architecture. There are also lots of new construction homes, ranging in size from comfortable family houses to grand estates. Many families look into Concord homes because of the excellent public schools in town. Not only was Concord arguably the nation’s birthplace, but it was the home to the Transcendentalist movement. Emerson and Thoreau got their start in Concord, working and writing on publications and philosophies that shaped the nation. But history is all that Concord has to offer. Sightseeing, biking, canoeing and even window-shopping are all enjoyable activities to participate in when visiting the city. Art galleries and performing arts grace the area with local talent- as well as bring an exciting culture to the residents. The greenery that grows throughout the city is lush and full- creating a sense of unique beauty that mixes city with nature. Concord is definitely the place for history buffs, and there are many historic attractions in the area. The Ralph Waldo Emerson House is certainly one of the most visited. Thoreauly Antiques is another gem in the city. The vintage antique store is a charming and contains a variety of items from many eras.
