If you’re looking for a great hometown in the MetroWest area, check out Sudbury homes. The town is located about 23 miles east of Boston and 25 miles west of Worcester and is a popular tourist destination, offering a quaint, quintessential historic town feel. This makes Sudbury real estate a great choice for people commuting to the larger cities. However, the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce is very active in the area and works hard to support local businesses of all sizes. They do this through regular networking events, advertising, and business education workshops.
The town has been able to maintain its rural character through strict zoning laws, which mandate that every residential plot must be at least an acre in size. Many Sudbury homes have been built in a Colonial or Cape Cod style. The classical architecture also helps to keep up the beauty of the town. A lot of the older construction in the area has been upgraded with high-end appliances, hardwood or tile flooring, and stone countertops. New construction is also available, both detached single-family homes and townhouses. Most of the newer development maintains the classic styles already established in other parts of town. Best of all Sudbury retains the honor of having a historic zip code, having been chosen over Concord, of 01776.
Families checking out Sudbury will be pleased with the public schools in town. They turn in excellent standardized testing scores and have a track record of giving students a strong foundation for college and beyond. In addition, there are several private schools in town, giving families plenty of great options for educating their kids. In fact, you'll find the original Mary Had a Little Lamb Schoolhouse here!
Not only does Sudbury have many great opportunities for work and education, it’s also stunningly beautiful and has a fascinating history. The northern part of town is mostly wetland preserve, and the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge is mostly located in Sudbury. Those interested in Revolutionary War history can pay a visit to the Sudbury Historical Society. The society has a great collection of photos and documents and is heavily involved in preserving some of the town’s oldest buildings. The society also holds a variety of fundraisers and lectures throughout the year to support its work and educate the public on the region’s fascinating history.
