The city is well-served by both highways and public transit. Commuters can take I-90, locally called the Massachusetts Turnpike, or an MBTA commuter train to get to Boston and points between.
There are also a number of commercial areas right in Framingham, meaning local jobs are plentiful and residents don’t have to go far to get what they need. The Golden Triangle is probably the best known and is anchored by two shopping malls--Shopper’s World and the Natick Mall. It’s the place to go to catch a movie, shop for clothes and shoes, or pick up goods for decorating and improving a home. There are also car dealerships, and several major organizations have offices in the triangle, including the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Local business is supported by the Metro-West Chamber of Commerce, which has its headquarters in the city.
People shopping Framingham real estate will find many styles to suit any lifestyle. There are several newer condominium buildings and comfortable townhouse-style developments. Single-family housing is available in both beautifully older homes and newer construction. The area is known for housing built by the Campanelli Company, as well as lovely Victorian homes.
Kids from Framingham homes can attend one of the city’s solid public schools. There are also a large number of private and parochial schools, including the Sudbury Valley School. The city includes a campus of Massachusetts Bay Community College and Framingham State University, where local students can easily continue their educations. The local public library has two branches and both have classes for residents of all ages to support literacy and a love of books and learning.
Those who love the outdoors will find plenty to do in Framingham. The city maintains many athletic fields and provides opportunities for adults and kids to join sports leagues. There are also tennis courts and playgrounds for kids. During warm weather, many residents love to head to one of the three public beaches. In addition, residents can cool off at one of the public pools. When the weather cools off, Loring Arena opens for ice skating. Residents can go hiking on the city’s system of trails, many of which wind around ponds and through forests.
